Join our team as a Senior Systems Development Engineer on our High Performance Computing (HPC) Solutions Engineering team in Austin, TX. We are looking for highly engaged team players with a hunger for knowledge and a passion for their work.

Description:
As an HPC Senior Systems Development Engineer you will be a part of the HPC Solutions Engineering team with a focus on HPC infrastructure networking technologies. You will have primary focus on collaborating with members of the HPC Solutions Engineering team, HPC & AI Innovations Lab team as well as industry technology partners on high speed data networks and related technologies. You will do this utilizing resources in the world class HPC & AI Innovations Lab. This could include conducting proof of concept studies on new technologies, benchmarking applications on Dell's HPC systems and designing optimal HPC systems based on customer's needs.

You will:

-Collaborate and participate in problem solving complex technical problems with other members of the HPC Engineering team and technology partners.

-Conduct research on new HPC technologies and working on developing Dell Technology's next generation HPC systems.

Represent Dell HPC Engineering with cross domain global teams in meetings and forums as well as represent Dell with vendors and technology partners.

This position requires a strong Linux background and comfort level, strong background and experience with high speed low latency data networks and infrastructures. Advanced understanding and working knowledge of HPC environments and workloads, tools used for performance benchmarking, profiling and optimization, performance impact systems components and layout, advanced understanding of interconnects and how they impact overall systems performance.

Responsibilities:

-Work with other Dell HPC engineers, architects, developers, product managers, and sales staff to ensure that Dell HPC solutions are best-in-class, matched to customer needs, cost-effective, supportable, and have potential for significant impact and revenue

-Benchmark HPC systems designs on new processor architectures, compute and high-performance scaling infrastructures and various subsystem components to characterize the network and systems performance

-Develop performance projection models to help predict application performance on future technologies

-Maintain relationships with partners' engineering teams and track their technology roadmap to remain aware of new developments

-Document results in technical reports, white papers, and external blogs. Publish technical conference papers and file patents where applicable

Requirements:

-Experience with HPC Systems environments and Infrastructures technologies and workloads

-B.S. in CS/CE/EE, or at least 6 years of HPC Systems and Infrastructure technologies experience

-Advanced working experience with Linux including OS internals, and machine architectures for performance profiling and optimizations

-Experience developing technical collateral including documentation and presentations of solution architectural designs, whitepapers, technical documents

-Experience with vendor management, technology partners and collaborations across organizations and business units

-Experience working with low-latency, high speed network architectures and protocols

-Experience with MPI applications

-Strong HPC background and knowledge base to include benchmark tools such as: HPL, Stream, IOR, MDtest, OSU MPI, HPC Challenge, OpenFOAM, NAMD, WRF, GROMACS, Quantum Expresso, MLPerf

-Understanding of VMware tools and suites as related to cloud for developing a customer portal and basic administration showcasing HPC Cloud
