Systems Engineer (VMWare)

About the Opportunity:

We are partnering with a leading national healthcare support organization that is seeking an IT Systems Operations Engineer. This position will provide mid to upper-tier support through all phases of projects and hardware lifecycles. You will also be responsible for the health, efficiency, and reliability of infrastructure services such as Server, Storage (SAN/NAS), VMWare.

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus
Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.

Location: Fully onsite in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in architecture reviews with IT groups, ensure supportability requirements and standards are followed.
• Maintain/improve stability and scalability of the systems environment through sustainable design of new standards.
• Automate and innovate on the approach to systems and system admin responsibilities while leveraging current resources and maintaining cost efficiency.
• Provide daily support, engineering, and administration for Storage (SAN/NAS) infrastructure in a multi-vendor environment (HPE, Dell, Qumulo).
• Manage daily Server infrastructure support, engineering, and administration across multi-vendor platforms (VMWare, Dell, HPE).
• Collaborate with IT Infrastructure and other teams on storage and server access and issues.
• Create documentation to improve governance and librarianship with system-related architectures.
• Assess how systems should function and the impact of changes in conditions, operations, and environment on outcomes.
• Daily maintenance and administration of various systems and infrastructures in both production and development environments. Resolve or report critical issues to the Manager of IT Enterprise Operations for resolution.
• Provide intermediate/ advanced support for application and system troubleshooting while supporting infrastructure hardware.
• Install and configure hardware in accordance with operational requirements.
• Conduct daily system monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of hardware, systems, and key processes; review system and application logs; verify the completion of scheduled jobs.
• Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
• Repair and recover from hardware and software failures while coordinating with affected parties.
• Support production systems as needed.
• Regularly apply patches/ upgrades and keep administrative tools and utilities up-to-date according to policies.
• Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as needed.
• Mentor junior network administrators and engineers in systems design, operations, deployment, documentation, and standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor`s degree in a relevant technical field.
• 5+ years` experience working with virtualization and provisioning/de-provisioning storage.
• 5+ years of Windows system administration experience, ideally in a multi-site domain.
• Advanced experience with:
  • Managing Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and load-balanced configurations.
  • Storage systems
  • HPE Server Hardware
  • Hypervisors like VMWare, HyperV, Nutanix, or Scale
  • VMware vSphere and vCenter.
  • MS Windows 2019 and Windows 2022
  • Network functions (DHCP, DNS, AD, WINS) and system operations solutioning and troubleshooting
  • Monitoring systems and analysis of performance data and tuning based on this data
  • Backup Technologies (ideally Veeam)
• Advanced knowledge of OSI Model, IP addressing, subnetting, VLAN, and routing.
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed for change controls or occasional emergencies.
