Systems Safety Engineer

Description

SAIC is seeking a System Safety Engineer to provide technical support to a government customer at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

• Develop and maintain a program-by-program set of tailored range safety requirements

• Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle (SV) program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) plans, procedures and safety documentation (MSPSP, Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Reports, etc.) for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements

• Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements

• Support program status meetings and attend working groups, as required

• Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to SV arrival and hazardous operations

• Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all SV pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated

• Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to SV program

• Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to SV programs and associated processing activities

• Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools

• Level I and II Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; Master's Degree in Engineering desired. Min 5 years of professional experience

Preferred 7+ years launch system safety experience.

Clearance:

Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret SCI clearance with a CI poly

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
