Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of Technology Development Director in our Low Carbon Venture (LCV) Business Unit based in Houston, Texas.
The Technology Development Directorwill lead a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for a cost down effort using new and advanced technologies and innovations in 1PointFive's direct air capture technology, TerraLithium's lithium technology, and/or our technology equity investment partners, under the general direction of the Vice President of Technology & Application - Low Carbon Ventures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Drive costs down in Direct Air Capture and TerraLithium technologies to meet business objectives.
• Provide exceptional leadership to a high-performing team to accomplish corporate objectives and LCV critical milestones.
• Critically evaluate and prioritize the technical and economic feasibility of integrating CCUS and lithium technologies and concepts that may fit into the LCV short and long-term strategies.
• Network in the scientific community to identify novel yet practical CCUS and lithium concepts, technologies, or products.
• Support LCV by directly innovating with our equity investments and JV partners to accelerate their development to commerciality.
Identify talent with capabilities and expertise to enhance and expand the LCV technology team including laboratories.

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or associated field
• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering a plu
• Ability to work in the United States a must.
Experience:
• The ideal candidate will have at a minimum of 5 years of laboratory, pilot, technology development, or related experience plus an additional minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience that includes supervision of operating technicians through corporate executive leadership, all in the chemical industry.
• A minimum of 5 years of technical management experience leading high-performing engineers, scientists, and/or a laboratory.
• Experience in new technology development, applying data to contemplate new theories and approaches, and using innovation to drive costs down to commercial success.
• Demonstrated ability to identify new approaches to solve existing problems.
Skills & Competencies:
• Demonstrated exceptional leadership to meet corporate objectives and key milestones.
• Able to communicate with passion and vision to effectively drive action and/or result, particularly with outside clients or partners using exceptional business acumen.
• Demonstrated experience in taking abstract concepts and quickly discerning their technical and economic viability as well as their fit in the overall LCV strategy.
• Technical leadership and organizational skills to develop, negotiate, and coordinate multi-disciplinary partnerships across a wide range of projects simultaneously.
• Confidence to step up and lead by taking on challenges when no one else will.
• Understands LCV business objectives and incorporates the same into problem solving process.
• Advanced understanding of economic principles and methods as related to early-stage research through commercial financing.
• Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively expecting excellence of team members and continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures.
• Considers each internal and external engagement as an opportunity to progress LCV goals and objectives which includes recruiting new talent.
