Purpose
Aspects of the job include the ability to review the state of a device and perform complicated upgrades and updates on both computer hardware and software. Work with a team to ensure that all networked devices are identified properly in the College's inventory systems and ensure that each device is under proper management. The position will perform advanced technical troubleshooting on devices, such as application installs, software updates and upgrades, and hardware updates and upgrades. This is a research environment, and candidates must be familiar with standard computer ports and interfaces commonly used in a research environment. Inventory data entry and data gathering.
Responsibilities
At least 3 years of customer service experience. At least 3 years of IT experience in both hardware and software. Experience with both Macs and Windows devices. Basic understanding of network technology and terminology. Information Technology customer service experience. Proven attention to detail. Experience maintaining documentation. Experience working with a team. Experience working on IT projects in a technical capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
Data entry and data gathering experience; familiarity with application and software installs; 5 years of desktop support experience in a university setting; 3 years of network support experience. 2 years working with managed computers in a university setting. Familiarity with endpoint management tools like JAMF, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, and Orcharhino or Puppet.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
