About the Job

Investment Officers perform ad-hoc management of investment portfolios, setting investment strategies, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and risk tolerance. This position participates in the investment decision-making processes to drive portfolio performance to achieve investment objectives and deliver value to the fund or stakeholders. This position performs functions for both private credit and public credit asset classes.

About the Corporation

The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) was created by Texas' first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state's public schools and was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to comprise over $55 billion in assets and will distribute nearly $2.2 billion annually to Texas K-12 schools.

Key Responsibilities Include the Following

• Develop a due diligence plan for each potential investment, outlining key objectives, areas of focus, and required resources. Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors to execute the plan.

• Evaluate the performance of investment portfolios against benchmarks and targets.

• Identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities that align with the organization's investment strategy and criteria.

• Attend meetings with clients, law firms, vendors, and stakeholders.

• Communicate investment strategies, performance results, and risk assessments effectively

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the investment deal team.



Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university.

• Nine or more years of relevant investment or financial analysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Data Analytics, or a related field.

• Financial Modeling Software such as PowerBi or Tableau.

• Charted Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alterative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Data Analytics, or similar industry related certifications.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Expert-level knowledge of financial markets, investment theory, and asset allocation strategies.

• Mastery of advanced financial modeling techniques, quantitative analysis, and risk management frameworks.

• Advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, investment software, and tools for data analysis and portfolio optimization.

• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and industry best practices

• Ability to set the vision, lead the investment team, and drive organizational success.

• Capability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.

• Clear written and verbal communication to convey findings and ideas effectively.

• Insight into global economic trends, geopolitical factors, and macroeconomic indicators.

• Capacity to make complex investment decisions, weighing risk-return trade-offs and long-term implications.

• Aptitude to critically evaluate investment opportunities, challenges, and potential outcomes.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to navigate market volatility, geopolitical uncertainty, and unexpected events.

• Ability to monitor portfolio performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement adjustments.
