Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time experience as a trainer. Two (2) years of adult learning experience. Experience developing training materials and designing visually engaging graphics and/or slide decks. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and/or Google Workspace.

Preferred Qualifications:
Association for Talent Development certification (APTD, CPTD). Experience within higher education or state institutions. Experience developing training content using Adobe Captivate, Articulate, Snagit, Camtasia, Screen Pal (Screencast-o-Matic), Screencastify, Youtube, iMovie (mac) or other applications. Experience with Oracle Guided Learning (OGL). Experience with stand-up (classroom) and remote (Virtual) delivery. Experience scheduling training/meetings (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex). Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS). Experience designing and delivering training for large scale transformations and change programs such as ERP implementations. Familiarity with Persona Based training.

Brief Description of Duties:The Trainer reports to the Director of Change Management. This individual serves as the trainer for small, medium and large-scale transformation initiatives across Stony Brook University. This role is part of the Change Management Office (CMO) which functions as an internal consulting organization supporting transformation initiatives and promoting the adoption of business solutions including technologies. The primary focus of this role is to develop and deliver training to prepare impacted users with the skills and knowledge necessary to adopt the change. The Trainer will need to be experienced in developing the required training materials. The Trainer provides a high level of administrative and customer service support. The incumbent will need to be forward-thinking and a self-starter. A high level of confidentiality is needed for this role, along with excellent interpersonal communication, both written and verbal and effective facilitation skills are essential. The Trainer needs to have excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

  • Designing and Developing Training Materials:
    • Analyze existing procedures for change impacts in assigned process areas and determine training needs and solutions for end users.
    • Work with business area owners and SMEs to gather information as requested for inclusion in their training plan and content.
    • Design and develop training materials and deliver the training to the identified audience.
    • Develop training in various formats (videos, quick reference guides, webinars, self-serve, on-demand).
    • Review training materials with business partners.
  • Delivering Training:
    • Manage requirements for the training environment set up, in partnership with the Technical team, if needed.
    • Plan and schedule training activities.
    • Coordinate logistics for training events, including scheduling, room setup, and equipment preparation.
    • Collaborate with other trainers to prepare for events, including creating and distributing training materials, presentations, and other resources.
    • Conduct 'Train-the-Trainer' sessions and knowledge transfer workshops for Super Users and Subject Matter Experts.
    • Deliver end user training (classroom and remote)Administer post-training continued education sessions, including 1:1 and group sessions.
    • Coordinate participant registration and track attendance.
    • Maintain training records and databases, ensuring compliance, accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Assist with maintaining the Learning Management System.
    • Provide technical support during virtual training sessions and troubleshoot issues as needed.
    • Work with HR Communications to update information on training websites and produce promotional materials.
    • Responsible for ensuring that communication related to training is created and sent.
  • Training Evaluation:
    • Design and administer training effectiveness surveys.
    • Collect feedback from participants and compile evaluations to assess the effectiveness of training programs.
    • Respond to feedback/questions/concerns.
    • Make modifications to training materials, as appropriate.
    • Conduct post-training analysis to assess training effectiveness.
    • Provide reports and make recommendations to the Training Manager.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
