HDR is seeking a Transportation Project Manager in our Durango or Grand Junction offices to design, pursue, lead and/or manage projects.

The duties of the Transportation Project Manager are to serve as the primary point of contact for the client. This will occur before release of a request for proposal, negotiating after award of a contract and continued client engagement and management through the project lifecycle. Additionally, the project manager will support client development and inquires to identify future opportunities for HDR. This may include reaching out to known or new prospective clients to explore their work needs and upcoming work they may need support on. This position will also play a key role in proposal development and identifying teaming partners to bring the best team together for a successful proposal. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with regular client interactions and developing engagement opportunities in this role.

Responsibilities

  • May plan, direct, and design multi-disciplinary highway or civil design projects
  • Will be a member of the Highway/Roadway team and will have the opportunity to support a mix of local and national projects dependent on workload and opportunities
  • Directs the work of others in the completion of required plans, studies, documents, and reports
  • Experience or ability to conduct extensive agency coordination, planning and programming, and working with multi-discipline teams are a must
  • May support in the preparation of proposals and lead scope development and execution upon selection They should have experience working with a variety of disciplines and project types
  • Responsible to coordinate project staffing and workload management for a team of engineers and designers
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development and initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of complex small to medium projects or routine large projects
  • Produce and coordinate several small to medium projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 7 years related experience
  • A minimum 2 years project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
