WisDOT is currently seeking to fill a Transportation Specialist Advanced position within the Division of Transportation System Development, Bureau of Project Development. The position can be located in our one of our DTSD offices of Madison, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Eau Claire, Superior, Green Bay, or Wisconsin Rapids.

Position Summary

The major responsibility of this position is examining highway construction contract plans, as prepared and submitted by Region Offices, municipal governments, and consultant engineering firms, for completeness and accuracy prior to their being advertised for competitive bidding by private contractors. This position is responsible for complete examination of very complex highway and structure plans. A very extensive and detailed working knowledge of the tasks listed below is required to ensure that the final plans meet the Department's standards and requirements. Sufficient knowledge of construction plans and contracting processes are required to identify potential issues that could present challenges for contractors to bid and construct the work contained within the plans.. Time management skills are also critical to this position as you will be assigned multiple plans to complete reviews for each monthly letting.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $64,480-$85,280, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
  • Experience with Highway and structure plan interpretation.
  • Experience with design of transportation projects using the Facilities Development Manual (FDM).
