On behalf of our esteemed hospital system client, we are seeking a qualified Ultrasound Technologist who is fully competent to perform all diagnostic procedures essential for the diagnosis of specific diseases or conditions.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports to: Ultrasound Supervisor or Radiology Manager

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

The following is a summary of the essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not listed below. Specific functions may change from time to time.
  1. Fully competent in performing all procedures within the Ultrasound Section of the Radiology Department.
  2. Fully knowledgeable in the technical operations of all equipment in this section.
  3. Assesses patients, reviews orders/charts as appropriate, confirming the reason for the exam. Ensures that pertinent patient symptoms, clinical history, and a signed consent form (if needed) are documented.
  4. Prepares patients for procedures, answers their questions, and effectively communicates with the supervising radiologist for special instructions or questions regarding exam protocol.
  5. Responsible for the prompt completion and accurate recording of exam start and end times in the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure timely access to studies by the radiologist.
  6. Ensures a safe environment, including but not limited to infection control guidelines, universal precautions, and patient safety goals.
  7. Monitors the timeliness of exams and quality of care based on established department goals, striving for continuous quality improvement. Performs QA of exams (correct order, accurate/complete image annotation, correct laterality) before sending to the radiologist for interpretation.
  8. Actively participates in the clinical education of student sonographers.
  9. Actively participates in the department's Performance Improvement Projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Sonography program.
  • ARRT (Sonography) or ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) preferred.
  • New graduates who are registered or registry eligible may apply.
  • New graduates who are registry eligible must become registered by either ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) within 12 months of their hire date.
  • Must maintain current AHA CPR certification through Cape Fear Valley Training and Development department.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Demonstrates technical skills and expertise in performing diagnostic and vascular sonography.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups.
  • Provides care based on the patient's developmental needs.
  • Experienced in the delivery of effective patient care and interacts effectively with patients of all ages.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to communicate orally.
  • Must have dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Must have mobility to assume awkward positions and respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 100 lbs./carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Position may involve skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.

Bonus Payout:
  • $2,000 - 6-Month Payout
  • $3,000 - 12-Month Payout
  • $5,000 - 24-Month Payout

Relocation Assistance will be paid in the first paycheck
