About The Outer Banks Hospital

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.

Position Summary

Operates Ultrasound Equipment to make sonograms of designated body parts. Responsibilities include knowledge of all ultrasound equipment, proper patient positioning, imaging, film developing for interpretations, implementation of patient charges, and assists physician physicians as required. Will be available for emergency on-call procedures as required. Recognizes the need for control/assessment of pain for patients and helps to prevent or reduce patient pain levels when possible.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasonography or School of Radiology and be eligible or possess a current RT(R)(S)(VS)RDMS registry or ARDMS(RVT) registry. Registry in Ultrasound must occur within one year of employment.
  • Requires at least three months but less than one year of work ultrasound experience. May be based on experience obtained through completion of ultrasound program.
