Job Description Summary
This position supports the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at MUSC. The EAP is seeking a candidate to provide therapeutic and program coordinator services. This position is located in the EAP clinic on campus. As a coordinator, the candidate would be the administrator for the electronic record keeping system, EAP Expert As a therapist the candidate would provide assessment, follow up and referral for EAP clients, documenting and maintaining records, provide training for client companies, among other tasks.

Job Description

FLSA: Salaried

Work Schedule: Monday -Thursday 10 hr/day, Wednesday Telehealth Day or Monday - Friday 8 hr/day Wed & Fri Teleheath Days

Job Duties:
  • 35% - Evaluate the needs of EAP clients through clinical assessment. Identify resources available to meet those needs by maintaining a list of appropriate referral sources for EAP clients. Provide brief therapy as clinically appropriate.
  • 20% - Maintain client records and confidentiality. Provide training to companies, supervisors and employees. Maintain current up-to-date knowledge and skills related to the counseling field and employee assistance.
  • 20% - Provide program coordination services including scheduling clients for internal counselors and external affiliate counselors, takes supervisory referrals, administers EAP Expert (record keeping software), maintaining and generating reports, creating new charts for internal clients, establishing and maintaining external affiliate counselor database, authorizing sessions for external affiliate counselors throughout South Carolina. Provide vacation coverage for administrative assistant to include answering the phone, greeting clients and conducting the intake process.
  • 20% - Maintain positive relationships with referral sources, client companies, MUSC Human Resources, supervisors, and affiliate counselors. Adhere to the ethical codes of conduct set forth by their licensing board and the standards of practice for Employee Assistance Professionals provided by EAPA.
  • 5% - other duties as assigned.


Preferred Education, Experience & Additional Skills:
  • LISW, LISW-CP, or LPC license
  • Prior experience in an employee assistance program, a CEAP or EAS-C is a plus.
  • A master’s degree and license to practice in the State of South Carolina and two years professional experience in human services or social services programs.
  • Prior experience in an employee assistance program.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public in person, on the phone and via email.
  • Ability to deal with complex emotional situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Ability to learn, maintain and administer record keeping software.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement a process improvement plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.
  • Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
  • A working knowledge of federal laws related to employment such as ABA, FMLA and Title IX.
