Job Duties

The New River Health District is currently seeking a Volunteer Services Supervisor tojoin our dedicated team of Public Health Professionals based at the Montgomery County Health Department.

Serves as a program expert/leader by contacting volunteers, clients, other agencies and organizations to recruit volunteers and inform clients of services. Supervises the training, performance, scheduling, and utilizing of volunteers. Serves as a liaison between operations, administration and other staff and volunteers to ensure optimum use of resources. Prepares reports and performs some general administrative tasks.

This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the MRC STRONG grant ending May 2025. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-grant funds.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of and experience in program organization, development and implementation, program evaluation and coalition building. Computer skills necessary
• Strong presentation and communications skills (oral and written) are required
• Ability to successfully manage multiple activities simultaneously
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work and contribute within collaborative relationships, including the public
• Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies

Additional Considerations

• Experience managing volunteers
• Experience in public communication including media services
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience working within the community with emergency preparedness and response resources/methods
