Starting Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience

The State Corporation Commission ("SCC" or "Commission") seeks a Court Services Supervisor to join its Clerk's Office. The Court Services Supervisor will be responsible for all Courtroom proceedings related to Bailiff duties; managing the intake, processing, and distribution of court documents; and ensuring the delivery of high-quality customer services through a well-trained staff. The candidate selected for this position will play a key role on the leadership team on upcoming change management initiatives within the Clerk's Office. The Court Services Supervisor oversees the following: preparation of appeals cases, subpoenas, and service of process; maintaining sufficient record keeping, archiving and confidential document protocols; and maintaining accurate internal policies, procedures, and workflows fully compliant with the Code of Virginia. The selected candidate for this position will utilize reports and metrics to prioritize work tasks, ensure performance and accountability, and identify process improvement opportunities. The Court Services Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that technology and imaging systems are functioning as designed, systems issues are addressed timely, and that solutions are offered to mitigate the risk of systems failures. The selected candidate for this position will provide guidance and support as an information resource to the team, Clerk's Office, and the Commission and will interact and collaborate with internal and external customers, other state agencies, key community stakeholders, and law enforcement. After initial training conducted in the office for approximately 6 - 12 months, this position offers the potential of a hybrid work schedule (remote up to 2 days per week) as business allows, along with professional development, training and educational opportunities.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include 6 or more years of relevant experience in document management and processing; experience supporting courtroom proceedings; and experience managing staff. Demonstrated experience building and managing diverse teams and coaching, developing, training and evaluating staff is essential. Candidates should have familiarity with systems workflows, enhancements, and issue resolution. Considerable knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of Bailiffs is important. Ideal candidates for this position will have considerable knowledge of data entry and storage in information systems; court documents and information validation processes; professional customer service practices and standards; and the use of a personal computer and its applications. The ability to read, interpret, and apply the Code of Virginia is critical. The ability to examine, review and validate court documents and filings; enforce proper courtroom procedures; identify and resolve complex issues; manage workflow, identify process inefficiencies and make process improvement recommendations; understand and express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Commission staff, industry personnel, and the general public are all essential for success in this role.
