Job Summary/Overview

The Distribution & Warehouse Center Manager ensures the efficient receiving, storage, and warehousing of raw materials, parts, and components, the timely pulling of materials and accurate delivery to the manufacturing areas, and cost-effective packaging and shipping of products to customers, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the distribution center staff to ensure the meeting of company standards for safety and quality, performance, customer specifications, and delivery requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure the continual, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Manage approximately 25 associates in their assigned distribution and warehouse center.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Evaluate and organize the shipping, receiving, and warehouse to ensure the most cost-effective labor efficiencies, and the most efficient flow of materials and products through the center.
  • Evaluate and select cost-effective freight carriers.
  • Investigate, identify and correct inventory discrepancies. For major or recurring discrepancies, determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Responsible for controls, organization, personnel, and equipment resources of all warehousing locations, including supplier consignment areas.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve day-to-day departmental problems and lead the team to meet or exceed KPI's and company goals.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, routings, and job orders for workers.
  • Maintain Departmental metrics to measure key success factors.
  • Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the organization's standards for quality, quantity, and safety, consistent with the organization's principles.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all required paperwork, records, documents, etc., (i.e., bill ladings, pack slips, export papers).
  • Own and drive overall strategy and implement plans to increase department productivity to achieve departmental goals.
  • Ensure daily completion of shipping activities on all shifts, working overtime as required.
  • Handle and/or assist in the settlement of employee issues. Develop and maintain positive employee relations and ensure open lines of communication with associates. Creates and drives warehouse culture to create a positive environment.
  • Understands and upholds Columbus McKinnon's policies and procedures in daily operations.
  • Cultivates a culture of safety, organization, and a clean working environment.
