HDR is seeking a Water Resources Management Team Lead to support our expanding market within in the Twin Cities metro and in support of our Minnesota & Wisconsin Area. This is a leadership role that involves project management, supervision, as well as planning, organizing, and coordinating the work of entry and mid-level professionals.

This role is responsible for executing, with teams of staff, the multiple HDR services needed on Water Resources Management projects throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the responsibility for operations of production section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support.
  • May function as an Assistant Project Manager and assist in responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
  • Assist with administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections.
  • Be involved in marketing, planning, proposals, and interviews.
  • Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production, and related issues.
  • Assist in ensuring that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system.
  • Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
  • Assist in the selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel.
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts.
  • Lead tasks and less experienced staff in the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities.
  • Focus on construction document development, including site and feature layout using CAD-based modeling and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling supporting design.
  • Focus on projects including flood risk reduction, levees, dam and spillway rehabilitation, channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland restoration, stormwater detention and conveyance, riverine structures.
  • Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies.
  • Develop construction quantity estimates and engineer's opinion of probable cost..
  • Coordinate with other engineering discipline leads to implement measures to successfully meet all project goals and objectives. Good written and verbal communication skills are expected and required for this position.
  • Assist in identifying technical learning path development and mentoring opportunities for staff.
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • Must have a familiarity with CAD-based design software, AutoCAD Civll3D and/or Bentley ORD.
  • Knowledge of Federal floodplain, dam, and levee policies and engineering requirements.
  • Must have familiarity with H&H design software including HEC-RAS, SWMM, or other channel/conduit hydraulic analysis software.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
