QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma with secretarial training required.
  2. Two (2) years of job-related experience preferred.
  3. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

SUPERVISOR

Principal

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of the procedures, practices and operation of a middle and/or high school.
  2. Ability to use excellent business English, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  3. Skill in operating computers, word processors and peripheral equipment.
  4. Ability to utilize or quickly learn to utilize the word processing programs used.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, including clear, polite telephone communications skills.
  6. Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
  7. Ability to exercise tact, good judgment and initiative in dealing with students, faculty and the public.
  8. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student, payroll and personnel records.
  9. Demonstrated typing skills at a minimum of 50 words per minute.
  10. Be capable of moving and lifting moderately heavy weights.
  11. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform require work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides secretarial services for the principal and other administration.
  2. Maintains student records, posts standardized test scores, initiates new records for incoming students and forwards required records for transfer students.
  3. Provides routine management of the principal's office.
  4. Assists the principal and other administration with the master schedule.
  5. Trains and supervises office assistants.
  6. Publishes the daily bulletin for teachers and students.
  7. Assumes general receptionist duties such as answering the telephone and greeting school visitors.
  8. Makes necessary computerized administrative reports related to attendance, discipline, personnel and grade reporting.
  9. Assists with the handling of student insurance if applicable.
  10. Assumes limited bookkeeping duties in the absence of the bookkeeper.
  11. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The terms of employment shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's Policy Manual, Students First Act and the Board's Salary Schedule - School Administrative Support.

EVALUATION

Performance evaluation shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel - GCRK and GCRK - R.
