JOB DESCRIPTION:
To lead students toward their potential for intellectual, emotional, psychological, and physical growth and maturation through provision of appropriate guidance and learning experiences.

THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION - TENURE IS NOT GAINED DURING CONTRACT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.
  • Participants in the TEAMS program shall be employed on a 189-day contract.
  • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to
    meet objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional
    learning atmosphere.
  • Exhibits positive human relations skills.
  • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and
    state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and
    leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must hold a valid Alabama professional educator certificate or alternate certificate in secondary math.
  • Must teach [full-time] approved math courses in grades 6-12 with the appropriate certificate endorsements.
  • Must teach [full-time] approved math courses in grades 6-12 with the appropriate certificate endorsements.
  • Currently old or plan to obtain an Advanced Credential from either the National Institute for STEM Education or National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification in math or science.
  • To qualify for the hard-to-staff supplements, a participating teacher shall teach in a school designated as hard-to-staff by the Alabama State Department of Education.
  • Must meet all requirements established by the Teacher Excellence and Accountability for Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) Salary Schedule Program (Act #2021-340) including teaching full time in an approved course, maintaining adequate progress
    towards an advanced credential (if the teacher does not have an advanced credential) and relinquishment of continuing service status.
  • Hold a valid Alabama professional educator certificate or alternate certificate in middle level math or secondary math.
  • Teacher full-time approved math courses in grades 6-12 with the appropriate certificate endorsements; and
  • Currently hold or plan to obtain an Advanced Credential from either the National Institute for STEM Education or National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification in math or science.
  • To qualify for the hard-to-staff supplement, a participating teacher shall teach in a
    school designated as hard-to-staff by the Alabama State Department of Education.
