JOB SUMMARY:

As a Textron Defense & Special Missions team member, you are credited with creating legendary business success and customer experience. This role will support one of the core areas of the Defense and Special Missions business teams: Special Missions Capabilities, Special Missions Proposal, Defense Aftermarket, and/or Defense Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Special Missions Capabilities
    • Interface with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop mission solutions and communicate them in a compact and elegant presentation package to the special mission Proposals and Sales teams
    • Analyze complex customer opportunities and provide winning strategies to SM Sales and Proposal teams
    • Maintain an extensive knowledge base and be well-versed in existing and in-development mission solutions and company kits incorporated on special mission aircraft
    • Responsible for having comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of all the Textron Aviation product line and competitive products
    • Serve as focal point for exchanges of technical information between Sales, Proposals and other functional areas of company and the special mission team
    • Act as liaison to SM Engineering to create new solutions to customer driven requirements
    • Assist in the development of ISOWs and SSOWS during creation of new kits and modifications in support of sales opportunities
    • Write technical requirements in requests for quotes of Third Party systems, equipment, and/or engineering services
    • Lead continuous improvement to sales support tools and processes and communicate new mission capabilities to sales and proposals teams
    • Assist Marketing in strategic messaging development based on mission capabilities
    • Occasional industry tradeshow and event participation for on-site support of customer interactions
    • Participate in vendor or modifier visits and or visit their facilities to determine technical capabilities


  • Special Missions Proposal
    • Accountable for leading proposal activities in support of the Special Missions sales team
    • Strategically lays out proposal planning steps to ensure successful execution to customer due dates, managing all aspects of the gating process from kick-off through contract award
    • Schedules the proposal effort and monitors progress utilizing project management tools
    • Organizes, coordinates, and leads cross functional proposal team of subject matter experts to develop a go-forward proposal strategy including Sales, ISC, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, and others as applicably
    • Develops the proposal package to include pricing, schedule, compliance matrix, technical solution, and other related materials
    • Provides proposal progress status and communicates updates to stakeholders, ensuring all vested parties (i.e. manager, proposal team, sales) abreast of changes or issues
    • Maintains a records management system to store all proposal related documentation and supporting backup for preservation and team accessibility


  • Defense Aftermarket
    • Manages and administers aftermarket parts and repairs for domestic and international customer accounts in support of Defense aircraft from request for quote through delivery with all necessary interface between Customers, Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance, Purchasing, Scheduling, Pricing, Suppliers, and regulatory support departments/agencies required to bring the contract to a successful conclusion with customer satisfaction.
    • Manages and administers standard domestic and international purchase agreements as well as non-standard agreements contracted directly with Textron Defense Company's (TDC) customers in accordance with Textron Policy and Procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
    • Assists Program Management and Capture Management teams in the preparation of proposals requiring quotations for cost, schedule, weight, certification, etc. in response to requests by prospective customers.
    • Act as liaison in the Customer request process, relative to equipment changes/deletions, and transmits price and delivery impact information to Customers.
    • Gain an understanding of logistical support for Sales, Program Managers, and Special Missions Team
    • Gain an understanding of procurement plans based upon the master schedule and related capacity considerations.
    • Gain an understanding of the phases of contract driven provisioning requirements to ensure INCOTERMS, and exporting compliance are met. Inventory control efforts/coordination and contract milestones are necessary to complete job assignments by management.
    • Gain an understanding of physical material review of contract requirements and basic inventory management functions.


  • Defense Programs
    • Support Program Management Office in management of Defense programs and delivery of capabilities, products, and services on time and at or under budget.
    • Support the planning and execution of project(s) according to established milestones to meet contract obligations. Learn how to prepare labor and material bid estimates for project execution. Assist in controlling project cost versus budget and be accountable for project profit/loss. Prepare for Estimate At Completion and schedule/critical path reviews, and other program management activities as required.
    • Manage risk and prepare for periodic Risk and Opportunity Management Boards.
    • As primary program customer interface, work directly with internal partners and external stakeholders/customers, along with suppliers to improve the overall performance of the fleet. Look for and develop opportunities that benefit both the customer and the program. Interface with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers in support of aircraft procurement, delivery, and sustainment activities.
    • Assist in coordinating proposals, developing statements of work and specifications, estimation of product/service costs, and negotiation and administration of costs.
    • Provide management updates as required to provide status of program/projects and to identify opportunities or issues that require leadership engagement/assistance


EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE :

Bachelors degree required in Business Management, Engineering, or related field.

Less than 2 years of professional experience in a relevant role.
