J OB SUMMARY:

In this position, interns will utilize and develop their basic knowledge of core manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering principles to design, analyze, and improve tooling methods. This opportunity enables an individual to grow and innovate while being able to experience a cross functional work environment and implement new technologies in building world class aircraft.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tool Engineering Design with emphasis on Ergonomics and Safety
  • Utilization of the latest, high technology tools to create Tool Engineering designs, NC Programming, composite fiber placement, Laser Projection, etc.
  • Leading/participating in cross-functional continuous improvement projects that enable both product and process improvements
  • Creation of Manufacturing Build and Tooling Plans for new aircraft
  • Develop manufacturing processes by modifying and designing new equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components
  • Observe and analyze current methods and processes for making recommendations on improving production quality, work simplification and cost reduction
  • Develop the most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following:

• Mechanical Engineering

• Manufacturing Engineering

• Manufacturing Engineering Technology

• Robotics Technology

• Industrial Engineering

• Other related fields

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A basic knowledge of core manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering principles

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong work ethic

• Good analytics and problem solving skills

• Mechanical aptitude

• Excellent organizational skills

• Computer proficiency (MS Office, CAD software, FEA/ FEM, etc.)

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application, and visa sponsorship is not available for this position, including for F-1 students and J-1 exchange visitors who will need employment sponsorship.

Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks .

Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
