The primary function of an instructional coach is to work with educators on growing and developing their skills in scaffolding, differentiation, and rigorous instruction. The actions and duties of an instructional coach improve learning by directly impacting the professional practice of educators.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

• ESL Certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Campus Leadership Experience

• Experience Facilitating Professional Learning

• Experience Presenting for Professional Organizations

• Proven experience as a collaborative leader
EXPERIENCE:
  • Three or more year's classroom teacher experience.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The instructional coach position is a full-time coaching position focusing on the following areas:

The Coppell ISD Coaching Cycle

• Spends a majority of time working with individual educators to achieve individual goals

• Supports educators in the development of their student focused goals

• Works with educators to identify student focused goals, learn strategies or practices for reaching goals, and implement the strategies or practices to reach the goal

• Gathers data for educator reflection

• Provides relevant and timely feedback through open dialogue in order to influence change in educators

• Encourages educators to connect and collaborate

• Models instructional strategies and practices

• Models and supports appropriate use of instructional materials such as books, tools (both digital and non-digital), manipulatives, and equipment

• Supports educators in the areas of instructional strategies, assessment, content, and classroom management

Professional Learning Communities

• Utilizes the district-wide professional learning community when analyzing data to drive instruction

• Works with educators to provide equitable access for all learners

• Works with teams to achieve group goals

• Supports educators when developing units through the UbD and constructivist learning design methodologies

• Supports the ongoing use of formative and summative assessment data to drive instruction

• Helps educators analyze and improve instructional methods

• Provides support for scaffolding to differentiate for and respond to the needs of all learners

• Works collaboratively with other specialists to enrich curricula to meet the unique and diverse needs of learners

Facilitator

• C ultivate a culture of continuous learning

• P romote the implementation of learning and reciprocal accountability

• D esign resources that support and encourage teachers to utilize sound professional practices

• U se effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly

• U tilize a variety of pedagogical strategies and digital tools during the design and delivery of professional learning

• C onduct needs assessments to design personalized professional learning pathways

• M odel the practices of the Coppell ISD Facilitation Framework

• P rovide embedded professional learning to support department, campus, and district goals

• F oster the development of professional learning networks

Learner

• S et goals for professional growth and move forward into action

• P ursue opportunities to grow in professional practice

• D eepen learning to support campus and/or district initiatives

• S eek opportunities to further develop an understanding of applicable content areas, such as developmental progression of knowledge and skills, standards, and content specific instructional strategies

• C ollaborate with other instructional coaches to develop the craft of instructional coaching

• L earn beside others for various purposes, such as modeling being a learner, building relationships, developing a common understanding, and supporting instructional leaders.

WORKING_CONDITIONS:
Equipment Used

Computer, iPad, fax, copier, printer and other testing equipment as needed.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs. Ability to move from one location to another (e.g. campus testing room or the Administration building)
