Job Description:

Student Programs

Student Recruitment and Communications. Developing opportunities for student recruitment. Special emphasis placed on recruiting transfer students and promoting the undergraduate and MAB program at various community and state colleges in Florida. Identify appropriate contact at community and state colleges and high schools. Attend recruitment functions. Hosts program orientation/info-sessions for new students. Assist in maintaining and designing printed and online materials for incoming students, alumni, and other departmental communication. Being familiar with the requirements for the Food and Resource Economics majors and curriculum admissions policies for the department and college as well as general University admission requirements.

Coordinate AEB6942 and related courses (Internship and final project credits) for Fall, Spring, and summer semesters. Coordinate MAB student internships throughout the year by partnering with appropriate area and state business, government and non-profit representatives. Continually seek new sponsors of student internships. Provide advisement and preparation for students pursuing internships. Follow-up with interns and their sponsors to ensure that internships are appropriate, and responsibilities met.

Answers general inquiries by email, mail, telephone, or in person as needed or assigned by the undergraduate and graduate coordinator or Office of the Chair.

Alumni Relations and Meeting Planning

Alumni relations and communications. Work with alumni of FRE programs to develop mentors for existing programs, assist in alumni engagement by coordinating and implementing events, assist in implementing programs to maintain and promote alumni interest and support, and assist in meeting established goals and objectives for the department and the university.

Meeting planner and coordinator. Serve as the primary person to coordinate visitors to FRE for seminars and meetings. Coordinate departmental activities such as the Agricultural Policy and Outlook Conference, Annual Extension meeting, Graduate student events, and similar meetings.

Other duties as assigned by the Office of the Chair.

Expected Salary:

Salary starting at $45,000yr commensurate with experience and education

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and communications abilities, both in written and oral form. Must have a personality appropriate for working with students and alumni. Candidate must be well organized, show attention to detail, and a strong desire to develop advanced expertise in all aspects of the job. Interactions with current and prospective students and alumni require a professional, inviting, and service-minder approach to the position and students. Must demonstrate integrity and confidentiality with regard to student records. Must be an enthusiastic supporter and promoter of the department, college, university and community.
