Job Summary
The role of the Academic Support Coordinator is to provide excellent customer service in coordinating the academic support processes for the MS in Molecular and Cell Biology & Biotechnology and to work with program leadership on the full cycle of a student's matriculation from recruitment and admissions to alumni. Will collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders to resolve student issues. Will be responsible for various administrative and program duties, including course enrollment, graduate assistantships, data and records management, and student orientation/events. The position will provide opportunities for creative problem solving and innovation to help faculty and students succeed.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Four or more years of administrative office experience in an academic environment. Excellent computer skills with various programs and ability to work with specialized databases. Outstanding customer service skills.

Preferred Education and Experience
Preferred experience working to support higher education programs and supporting students in their academic programs. Understanding of the functions of higher education including academic advising and student affairs. Managing a database and excellent communication with current and prospective students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review and process applications on behalf of the graduate admissions committee. Facilitate activities to support matriculation of admitted applicants.
• Collaborate across multiple teams to provide problem-solving support and remain current on university policy and procedure in student advising, recruiting and admissions.
• Coordinate and manage graduate student orientation.
• Manage and respond to program inquiries from perspective students using various methods.
• Coordinate the course schedule and registration process, update student degree plans, and manage admission and enrollment reports each semester.
• Maintain graduate student records and files.
• Manage graduation processes including evaluating student degree plans for eligibility, and processing graduation applications.
• Maintain channels of communication with graduate alumni and keeps records of job placement, alumni engagement, and so forth.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, particularly MS Excel
• Collaborates with area staff, faculty and students for special projects as needed, provide miscellaneous administrative support.
• Participate in student recruitment and marketing activities
• Engage with alumni regarding departmental events
• Participates in appropriate professional conferences and individual professional development.

Additional Information
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
