The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy is seeking an Administrative Fellow for Philanthropy. This position will serve as a key partner in the success of the philanthropic engagement process through research, pipeline development, and analysis. The role requires intellectual curiosity, creativity, strong communication skills and attention to detail and reports to the Executive Director of Strategic Advancement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performing research on constituents outside of UVA's current ecosystem of alumni and supporters using various tools, such as iWave (a specialized subscription database), print publications, and web-based research to determine the financial capacities, philanthropic history, and interests to qualify the viability of prospects and/or donors.
  • Conducts proactive research on both individual and institutional donors.
  • Prepares a new prospect portfolio with weekly updates for a continuous pipeline.
  • Prepares briefing materials for meetings and events.
  • Assists with the preparation of documents for prospective donors for cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Generates concise and accurate reports on data such as prospect assignments, capacity ratings, and affiliation.
  • Conducts reactive research on incoming leads.
  • Identifies potential foundation prospects from sources including Inside Philanthropy and Chronicle of Philanthropy, and other independent research.
  • Identifies potential corporate donors and connections through UVA alumni.
  • Manages CRM input - contact reports, prospect strategies, substantive actions, and information updates.
  • Assists with regular portfolio review, memos for the Dean, and reporting.
  • Conducts outreach for various constituencies and assists with coordination of the ED's outreach.
  • Conducts pipeline analysis to discover trends, insights, and gaps among prospect pools, portfolios, and donor segments.
  • Manages Salesforce hygiene tasks for clean data.
  • Monitors stewardship needs and prepares calendar for the Executive Director.
  • Assists with letter writing, as needed and follow-up tasks, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $40,000 - $55,000, dependent on experience, education, and qualifications.

This is a 1-year term restricted position.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field .
  • At least 1 year of related experience. Experienced gained while a student will be considered.
  • Business experience a plus.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to create and maintain organized workflows and processes with attention to detail.
  • The ability to meet competing deadlines and maintain accuracy.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office applications (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
