The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Lab Coordinator to provide administrative and laboratory operational support to the Batten School research community.

The Research Lab Coordinator will oversee the daily operations and management of the School's behavioral and experimental research lab. This role involves managing and maintaining the lab's facilities and equipment, coordinating the scheduling of lab usage and participant recruitment, and overseeing data collection across multiple locations, both in the lab and the field. The Lab Coordinator will collaborate closely with other research staff to advance the lab's research objectives, aiming to deepen understanding of human behavior and translate this knowledge into leadership strategies.

Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Support for ongoing administrative functions and operations. Perform a variety of duties requiring an understanding of organizational operations, organizational procedures, and personnel. Support lab community and facilitate internal and external communications.
  • Project and faculty events management. Formulate decisions and make recommendations regarding planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Basic budget projections, running fiscal reports, monitoring fund balances, and working with account owners to stay within budget. May perform accounts receivable and cashiering functions.
  • May provide supplementary administrative support for grant pre- and post-award activity.
  • Answer general questions from employees and refer human resources questions to the appropriate experts.
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
  • High School Diploma; additional education in psychology preferred
  • At least four years of experience in a laboratory, learning, office, or other administrative or customer service setting
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of research integrity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills
The following qualifications are desirable but not required:
  • Prior experience in higher education administration, including experience with the Workday Enterprise Resource Planning suite and Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to take initiative and find creative solutions to problems.
  • Prior experience with research guidelines, human subject testing requirements, and laboratory best practices.
  • Prior experience in behavioral or experimental lab settings.
This position will remain open until filled. Start date is negotiable but will ideally start in August 2024. This is a non-exempt level, benefited position. The anticipated hiring range for this role is $ 45,000 - $50,000 .
