Essential Functions
  • Assist in the flow of all academic paperwork for undergraduate and graduate students in processing towards graduation while keeping detailed and confidential records for students. Maintain Catalog changes in consultation with the Associate Deans. Provide support for Graduate School Executive Committee, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (Coursedog Curriculum change proposals and committee minutes), and Academic Misconduct committee as necessary. Maintain detailed spreadsheets and reports on Engineering enrollment as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between the seven departments and the centers under CoE, with university entities such as the College of Graduate Studies, Academic Affairs, Admissions, Registration, etc. for the Associate Deans.
  • Maintain the calendars and schedule appointments for both the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean of Research. Research and make travel arrangements for Associate Deans in Chrome River. Generate communications on their behalf to department chairs, faculty, students and others outside the CoE, as needed. Coordinate events- All aspects of Order of Engineer ceremony and registrations leading up to this event, graduate student seminars & orientations, Donut Stop, TLSAMP (complete the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation Annual Survey and organize the on-campus event for 100+ students from all over the State of TN), and ESCL@Te. Support includes but not limited to room reservations, coordination with various attendees, food forms/orders, registering participants, and meeting notes.
  • Keep detailed inventory on all space assigned to the College of Engineering. Attend space related meetings (as necessary), process change/transfer forms, and update Facilities on all space change/transfer activities, submitting yearly reports.
  • Provide ACME building committees' support, provide support for Engineering Flower Fund, Course dog Room reservations for Ashraf Islam Building, assist in updating Faculty expertise guide, and be the first point of contact for the Engineering Dean's Office in Ashraf Islam Engineering building with knowledge of the entire building components. Assist with all College of Engineering events as necessary.


Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent with four years of recent professional experience in a clerical capacity or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with two years of related professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is preferred. Experience in the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, Banner, Chrome River, Qualtrics, Argos, Adobe Pro/InDesign Suite, Handshake, Coursedog, DocuSign.Effective communication skills in dealing with a variety of personalities. Decision making skills.

Work Hours

Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
