The Liquidity Risk Management (LRM) team is a part of the Global Treasury Organization at American Express. The team's core objective is to ensure the company meets its regulatory liquidity needs by forecasting the company's regulatory liquidity requirements, collaborating with the funding team to ensure timely funding of those needs, and performing stress testing to ensure the company remains compliant with all regulatory liquidity requirements on an ongoing basis.

This role is an amazing opportunity to take responsibility for performing the regulatory liquidity risk management forecasting, stress testing, analytics, and governance activities as American Express's regulatory and reporting requirements migrate from a Category IV bank to Category III & II in coming years.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform production runs and validation of Liquidity Stress Testing (LST), Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) and other LRM processes.
  • Support preparation of materials for key committees and other management meetings.
  • Conduct the review, refresh and reporting of the concentration risk limits framework, early warning indicators and material non-US entity stress testing.
  • Analyze large data sets and summarize key messages for management to help inform funding and business strategy decisions.
  • Support review and refinement of liquidity assumptions, methodologies and processes for liquidity sources and uses for LST, LCR and NSFR.
  • Maintain the company's LRM policy and supporting internal control group reviews and regulatory exams.
  • Work closely with Bank Legal Entity Management teams to provide SME support for LRM at regulated entities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-2 years Finance/Treasury/Market or Credit Risk experience.
  • Knowledge of balance sheet, income statement, and accounting fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate closely effectively with internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive projects, and work well under tight deadlines.
  • An analytical approach coupled with strong process management skills and ability to drive improvements.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and summarize results for management.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel VBA, SQL, Python, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Undergraduate degree in a finance-related area such as Finance, Financial Engineering, Accounting, Economics or a quantitative discipline, e.g. Math/Statistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in liquidity regulations (Liquidity Stress Testing, FR 2052a, LCR, NSFR) and related financial reporting and modeling.
