Candidates should hold a PhD in Communication Studies or a related field.

Position Summary

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor or tenure-track Assistant Professor in Interpersonal and/or Health Communication with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2024. The responsibilities of this position are to carry out research; to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in research methods, communication theory, and the successful candidate's area of scholarly expertise; to supervise graduate student and undergraduate research; and to perform service to the department and university.

Additional Requirements

Candidates considered for the associate professor rank must have qualifications and academic credentials that are commensurate with the promotion and tenure guidelines at the University of Georgia. Candidates considered for the associate professor rank must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Ideal applicants should have demonstrated expertise in communication research that utilizes computerized tools and algorithms for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data. We are open to candidates who employ diverse methodologies, including empirical, analytical, and critical approaches. Ideal applicants will have a strong background in securing extramural research funding and a commitment to pursuing such funding in the future. They will also show evidence of a commitment to promoting interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research through collaborating with partners at UGA and beyond.
