Assistant Professor - Division of Patient Services Research

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor - Research Non-Tenure

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Department of Patient Services Divisions (Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology, Occupational and Physical Therapy, Nursing), Perinatal Institute, Division of Child Psychiatry, Division of Neurology

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• To conduct innovative translational research in hearing, speech and/or language both independently and collaboratively.

• Responsible for initiating, soliciting and coordinating well-designed research studies that have the potential for external funding.

• Train and mentor graduate and post-doctoral researchers in relevant fields.

• Participate in scholarly activities including local, national and international networking, presentations, and reviewing.

• Drawing on collaborators and other resources, initiates and coordinates well designed research projects that have potential for external funding.

• Participate in activities to plan, implement and improve services and technical operations within the research and/or clinical activities of the Department of Patient Services.

• Provide, communicate, and implement strategic plans and policies to achieve the mission, vision and values of Cincinnati Children's.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Research, Teaching and/or Training

• Conduct research both independently and collaboratively that is often dependent upon or associated with other ongoing research projects.

• Ensure that all research functions operate at the highest level of quality, while maintaining fiscal soundness.

• Participate in collaborative research projects through interactions with researchers as well as individuals from other Cincinnati Children's divisions/departments.

• Participate in mentoring graduate students, post-doctoral and research fellows, residents, and students to be involved in functions related to the research mission.

• Contributes to research and teaching including serving as a teacher, role model and mentor internally; participate in the development and direction of research and/or educational program at the division, department, or system level.

• Complete evaluations for students, residents, and peers.

• Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature, and seminars. Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars and professional meetings. Implement knowledge into research.

Service and/or Administration

• Contribute to the mission of the division of Patient Services Research and Cincinnati Children'

• Serve as a role model of effective interpersonal & intrapersonal relationships & encourage team concepts.

Scholarly Activitie

• Develop and lead research programs in area of clinical specialty

• Develop grant proposals for internal and external funding to support a defined program of research in the form of major grants from the National Institutes of Health or other sources.

• Apply advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research

• Publication of original research investigations, clinical observations, reviews, chapters or book

• Membership on editorial boards or editorship of textbooks or journal

• Demonstrate on-going commitment to and participates in scholarly activities at an advanced level as evidenced by publication of original research investigation, educational research, clinical observations, reviews, chapters, or books;

Qualifications:

Qualification

• PhD degree in related discipline of Audiology

• Experience in health research and team science

• A record of high-quality peer-reviewed publication

• Experience in grant writing

Preferred:

• Candidates with demonstrated ability to conduct research in priority areas of growth including audiology, cochlear implants, and neural speech tracking in infants and children.

• Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.

• Analytical ability required with respect to evaluating data, and make judgments with regard to clinical research material.

• Possess organization and prioritization abilities.

• Knowledge of research methodology, practice specialty, growth and development, family centered care, pathophysiology and/or pharmacology.

• Organizational ability to work effectively within a highly matrixed and complex medical center. Possesses expert knowledge and experience of medical specialty.
