This faculty position will be responsible for teaching within the Family Nurse Practitioner Concentration of the DNP program. The UTHSC embraces four missions: education, research, clinical care, and institutional service. Responsibilities for this role include clinical practice assignment, in addition to educational responsibilities.
Teaching responsibilities include didactic coursework (online and in person) and clinical supervision of students in the FNP concentration and other programs, and courses as needed. Teaching experience at the graduate level with the ability to teach full-scope primary care is desired. Responsibilities for this role include clinical practice placements, clinical site visits, mentoring FNP student projects, and other educational responsibilities. Research/scholarship activities and service responsibilities will be determined in collaboration with the Department Chair. Eligibility to practice with clinical partner sites is required. This position is eligible for the College's faculty practice plan.
Earned doctoral degree from an accredited university required.
Certification/recertification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse (e.g., FNP) in Tennessee or eligibility to obtain licensure in Tennessee required.
Substantive expertise is required as a Family Nurse Practitioner with at least one year of recent clinical practice experience required. Teaching experience at the graduate level with the ability to teach full scope primary care is desired. Teaching experience in a DNP program is preferred. Demonstration of scholarship related activities (for example, abstracts at conferences, published manuscripts, grant funding) is preferred. Academic rank is commensurate with degree and academic experience.
