The Graduate School of Education ( GSE ) at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Educational Data Science, within the Department of Counseling, School, and Educational Psychology ( CSEP ). Primary affiliation will be in the Educational Data Science ( EDS ) program, which offers Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees as well as the Advanced Certificate of Applied Statistical Analysis. EDS programs are committed to improving evidence-based educational policy and creating educational environments that are fundamentally concerned with access, equity, diversity, and inclusion for marginalized and underserved students.

Priority status will be given to scholars who use a critical lens, particularly critical quantitative methods and demonstrate innovative approaches to educational data science to improve educational equity. Ideal candidates are able to make clear connections between their research, teaching, and service, and the needs of marginalized and underserved populations.

GSE is committed to fostering the principles of equity, diversity, justice, and inclusion through an engaged community of scholars who prioritize research, teaching, and community action that address educational, economic, social, and health disparities. The CSEP Department includes a distinguished faculty of researchers, professional teachers, and thought leaders who strive for innovation in research, training, and practice to have enduring impact on the lives of individuals and communities. Faculty demonstrate a commitment to creating a collegial academic environment characterized by equity, social justice, interdisciplinary collaboration and by ensuring that the research and practice mission of GSE contributes to local schools, agencies, and neighborhoods.

Responsibilities include:

  • Advise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees.
  • Support efforts to recruit M.S. and Ph.D. students.
