The 'Prospecting Capabilities Data Science' team is part of the Analytics, Investments and Marketing Enablement (AIM) team within Global Commercial Services Marketing, American Express. AIM team is responsible for targeting, acquiring, engaging, and retaining commercial customers over online and offline channels and delivering world-class analytics, insights and data products for the Global Commercial Services (GCS) business.

In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for AI/ML matching framework, tech platform expertise to build the commercial prospect database & optimize usage. You will be challenged with designing and creating world class prospect marketing analytics by leveraging machine learning and advanced methodologies.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate, maintain and continuously enhance existing AI/ML matching algorithms based on the evolving needs and data availability, while supporting development and delivery of a vision, strategy and roadmap to achieve a next-generation matching capability.
  • Explore the usage and implementation of data mining techniques, including regression analysis, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, and NLP solutions
  • Strong programming skills are required. Experience with BIG DATA PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES (HIVE, PIG, SPARK), PYTHON and SQL.
  • Bring a strong technical foundation; able to engage the team on coding practices, architecture, design, get under the hood of complex integrated architectures, coding systems, and interface design
  • Collaborate successfully with product owners, designers, and a broad set of internal technical partners (across multiple internal groups)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics).
  • 5 years of data science experience (including years spent in academia achieving advanced degrees)
  • At lease 3 years of experience with Python programming and SQL.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with building models & analytical data product
  • Demonstrated ability to apply cutting edge statistical techniques to business problems and to leverage external thinking (from academia and/or other industries)
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, including XGBoost, Decision Trees, etc.
  • Good understanding of cluster and parallel architecture or familiarity with cloud-based architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners, functional owners, capabilities, technology teams and external vendors.
  • Experience with commercial data and ability to create insights and drive results


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or Economics).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Natural Language Processing.
  • 2 years of experience with Java.
  • Experience in data ontology.
  • Knowledge of commercial data experience.


Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
