Job Summary

The Division of Undergraduate Education in the College of Engineering is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist to initiate and lead innovative engineering education research projects. The focus will be on Socially Engaged Engineering and Design (SEED), integrating SEED into curricula, and exploring its implications on students' engineering skills, experiences, and career thinking. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing impactful research, securing grant funding, and contributing to academic literature. Additionally, the role involves mentoring student researchers, collaborating with faculty, and engaging with professional communities.

Responsibilities*
  • Initiate, lead, and partner on research projects
  • Generate impactful research outputs
  • Disseminate research outcomes to both academic and non-academic audiences
  • Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate student researchers
  • Foster collaborative relationships with other faculty members within the College of Engineering and across disciplines
  • Engage with professional communities to stay current of the latest developments in engineering education and SEED
  • Participate in and contribute to relevant professional organizations and conferences
  • Contribute to the strategic goals of the College of Engineering through research and professional activities

Required Qualifications*
  • Ph.D. in Education, Engineering Education, or a related field
  • 2+ years of post-PhD research experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage research projects
  • Established strong track record of published research in engineering education or a related field
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Excellent mentoring and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders

Modes of Work

Additional Information

This position is for 20% effort.
