ABOUT TRANSPLANT SERVICES CENTER

Transplant Services Center (TSC) is a Center within UT Southwestern Medical Center that functions as a full-service eye and tissue bank to "Complete the Circle of Care" between donation and transplantation. TSC has been providing eye and tissue donor recovery, processing, and allograft distribution services in North Texas since 1972. TSC is accredited by both the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA). TSC is the longest continually accredited eye and tissue bank in Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director, Quality Operations works under minimal supervision to assist the Director in the operation of the Transplant Services Center through supervision and leadership of the quality program. The Associate Director also assists with business development and provides back-up supervision for technical operations as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in related field.

• Ten (10) to twelve (12) years progressively responsible, related experience.

• Three (3) years in supervisory capacity.

PREFERRED

• Master's degree in business or leadership

• Eight (8) to ten (ten) years progressively responsible experience in eye and/or tissue banking

• Five (5) years in supervisory capacity.

JOB DUTIES

• Responsible for planning, developing, and directing quality assurance policies, programs, and initiatives.

• Recruit, select, train, and supervise appropriately qualified staff to perform the day-to-day quality assurance and clinical review operations of the Center.

• Participate in development of strategic and operational goals with the Director and other supervisors/managers to respond to the changing needs of the community.

• Develop and maintain procedures to guide the quality systems for the Center and recommend changes to procedures that guide operations. Ensure procedures comply with FDA regulations and accrediting body standards as well as UT System policies and state regulations.

• Develop and business and strategic relationships with key partners, including but not limited to national accrediting organizations, organ procurement organizations, eye and tissue banks, tissue processors, medical examiners, and funeral homes to enhance positive relationships which support development and maintenance of external organizational relationships.

• Support as required the development and maintenance of departmental budget.

• Recommend as appropriate and support internal controls which provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.

• Maintain and promote confidentiality as appropriate.

• Act on behalf of the Director as required.

• Other duties as assigned.
