Currently seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Engineer position. The primary focus of Associate Engineers is to assist the engineering department in all facets of natural gas design and construction management, including pipeline, meter/regulator station, and compressor station projects. The selected candidate will create CAD drawings, design and select material and equipment, develop bills of materials, and write design and completion reports. The engineering department, including this position, also serves to assist the operations and maintenance department of the company with various tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work in multi-discipline, collaborative team environments
  • Work alongside surveyors, environmental scientists, GIS professionals, operations specialists, technicians, and other non-engineering positions
  • Utilize the latest 3D modeling CADD software to develop designs, drawings, and details
  • Visit a variety of projects in the field, such as industrial facilities, greenfield developments, power plants, commercial centers, residential neighborhoods, and rural developments in order to oversee construction and gather information
  • Expand your skillset beyond school by participating in tasks outside of engineering and your specific engineering discipline
  • See many projects through from start to finish - be involved in the initial project conception all the way through to construction and commissioning
  • Learn an entire industry, its codes and compliance, best practices, and construction methods
  • Build complex flow models of pipeline systems to identify bottlenecks and plan for future growth
  • Network and collaborate with hundreds of individuals across the natural gas industry from operators to vendors to contractors

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

Provide engineering design for natural gas/hazardous liquid pipelines and related facilities for wide range of operators (distribution, transmission, midstream, etc.). Typical tasks include:

  • Pipeline routing
  • Field studies and site visits
  • Material specification and procurement
  • Equipment selection
  • Develop engineering drawings
  • Procedure development
  • Cathodic protection system design
  • Pipe sizing and system modeling
  • Cost estimation
  • Prepare bid packages
  • Completion reports
  • Survey-grade GPS data collection
  • Map development
  • Construction schedule development
  • Vendor/fabricator/contractor correspondence
  • Client interaction


Tasks may include, depending on knowledge and proficiency:

  • Steel design (for pipe skids, supports)
  • Concrete design (for pipe and equipment foundations)
  • Electrical design (for electrical services, conduit sizing/routing, equipment wiring, SCADA systems)
  • Geotechnical and roadway design (for station pad design, access road design, grading)
  • Survey work (for pipeline routing, as-built data collection)


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Civil, mechanical, and petroleum focused.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Access, etc.).
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Must have advanced mathematical, scientific, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality of work.
  • Skill to prepare documents, retain and organize records, analyze and summarize raw data, in order to compile and submit various reports.
  • Analyze situations, make decisions, take action, and inform supervisors of exceptions to the standard processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience in managing and maintaining a project schedule and budget.
  • Availability to occasionally conduct field work in Ohio and surrounding states. Field work may require overnight stay.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Discretion when dealing with confidential information.
  • Good record of safe work practices.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Civil engineering degrees preferred for this posting only.
  • 2+ years' experience of natural gas/hazardous liquid pipeline and facility design experience.
  • Experience with CADWorx, Plant 3D, ArcGIS, Pipeline Toolbox, GasCalc, and/or GasWorks is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and experience with 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195 preferred.
  • OSHA 10 and/or other industry safety training/qualifications.
  • Engineering Intern (EI), or goal to obtain, preferred.
