Job Description:

L3Harris is looking for a System Integration and Test Engineer to perform system test and troubleshoot system problems on Air Traffic Control Voice Switching System and Equipment. This is a large complex communications system vital to air traffic operations and safety. The position interfaces with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and is the point of contact to provide technical expertise on system system/subsystem testing and evaluation. Successful team members will be working to help support the global aviation community with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for testing and troubleshooting system problems on telecommunications systems
  • Create technical documents and artifacts and develop test and evaluation for system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Conduct presentations and interface with the FAA customer to provide technical expertise.
  • Act as the team subject matter expert in system test and integration.
  • Review and interpret existing designs, complete technical writings.
  • 10% short-term travel may be required
  • Shift work may be required


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related area of study.
  • Must have a good presentation and customer interfacing skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Must possess strong technical writing skills
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Ability to acquire FAA public trust clearance


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Internship or direct experience on a FAA NAS program.
  • Knowledge of analog and/or VoIP telecommunication systems, voice, data, radio, fiber optics, T1, T2, ATM, SIP, etc.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Operating Systems and Linux based operating systems such as Redhat, CentOS etc.
  • Experience working with or supporting the FAA in a Test, Software or Systems Engineering role.
  • Knowledge of system architecture and voice switching.
