The Pastry Cook 2 is responsible for assisting in the preparation, baking, and presentation of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role involves working closely with the Pastry Chef and other kitchen staff to create high-quality and visually appealing pastry items for the hotel’s dining outlets. The Pastry Cook 2 ensures that all pastries are prepared according to the hotel’s standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pastry Preparation and Baking:
    • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods following established recipes and techniques.
    • Assist in the creation and development of new pastry recipes and menu items.
    • Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation of all pastry items.
  • Ingredient and Equipment Management:
    • Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to recipe specifications.
    • Maintain inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies, ensuring proper storage and rotation.
    • Operate and maintain baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, and pastry tools.
  • Quality Control:
    • Monitor baking times and temperatures to ensure optimal quality of products.
    • Conduct regular quality checks to ensure that pastries meet the hotel's standards and specifications.
  • Cleanliness and Organization:
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper sanitation of utensils and equipment.
    • Follow health and safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with the Pastry Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
    • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues.
  • Guest Satisfaction:
    • Assist in creating and presenting desserts and pastries that meet guest expectations and enhance their dining experience.
    • Respond to special requests and dietary restrictions as needed.


    This is an hourly position with compensation ranging from $24-$25.44 per hour. The final offer will be based on experience.

    • Refined verbal communication skills.
    • High School diploma or equivalent; formal culinary training or certification in pastry arts is preferred.
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a pastry kitchen or similar role, with a solid understanding of baking techniques and pastry preparation.
    • A culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred.
    • Proficiency in pastry techniques, including dough preparation, cake decoration, and pastry plating.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
    • A flexible schedule is preferred. Able to work AM or PM shifts, holidays, and weekends.
    • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to moderate weight.
