We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in billing for outpatient addiction and mental health clinics, with specific experience in Ohio Medicaid billing processes. This role will be responsible for managing the billing cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and resolving any billing discrepancies.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on claims to Ohio Medicaid and other insurance providers for outpatient addiction and mental health services.
- Review and verify patient information, insurance coverage, and billing codes to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Identify and resolve billing discrepancies or denials by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and internal staff.
- Maintain organized records of all billing transactions, including submissions, payments, and denials.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation of services provided.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Stay updated on changes in billing regulations and reimbursement policies, particularly those related to Ohio Medicaid.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, specifically for outpatient addiction and mental health clinics.
- Strong knowledge of Ohio Medicaid billing processes and regulations.
- Proficient in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and clinical staff.
- Certification in medical billing (e.g., Certified Professional Biller - CPB) is a plus.
