Description

Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
  1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
  2. Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
  3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
  4. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
  5. Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
  6. Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
  7. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
  8. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
  9. May serve as property custodian for the department.
  10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The Program Manager - Operations will support the daily operations for recreation facilities and staff, including maintenance of training and certification records for operations staff. The position is responsible for equipment inventory, inspection, and maintenance of equipment. This position reports to the Associate Director. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Job Duties : Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Manages the recruitment, onboarding, hiring, training, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of Operations Attendants and Leads; manage student payroll weekly;
  • Assist with developing and executing fall and spring student staff trainings, monthly Operations in-services, professional staff development and team initiatives. Instruct safety courses and trainings.

• Provide guidance, professional development, and evaluation of the Operations staff regarding their leadership, management, customer service, and performance daily.

• Develop and execute a series of staff and patron audits as it pertains to customer service and policy violations

• Responsible for inspection, inventory, purchasing, and check-out of equipment used for facility-operations and programs including but not limited to keys, radios, laptop-projectors, tablets/iPads; maintain database, and follow-up on damaged equipment reports.

• Maintain department database for certification tracking, in-service trainings, emergency drills, university mandatory trainings, and other operations related trainings.

• Develop and maintain a budget for the Operations staff payroll and equipment check-out.

• Assist with management of on-site special events: demonstrate and lead staff in set-up and take down processes, provide event supervision, technical support, and evaluation.

• Contribute to the development and submission of assessments and evaluations related to student development including technical skills, student learning outcomes, and leadership.

• Contribute to semester reports, proposals, and manuals for operations; assist with implementation of risk management procedures and ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.

• Evening and weekend hours are required as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelors and No experience

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
