Roles and Responsibilities:

Supervises, trains and provides guidance and development opportunities to the Quality Assurance Specialists to enhance their skills and ensure effective quality management.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Provides coverage in the absence of the Director, Quality Assurance.
  • Establishes and maintains quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NJ Transit standards and regulations.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures for technologically advanced electronic bus systems and implement audit procedures to enhance performance of all applicable areas of NJ Transit Bus Operations.
  • Ensures technologically advanced equipment is properly maintained to assure the highest level of customer service satisfaction, safety, and equipment reliability.
  • Meets departmental goals by scheduling audits as outlined in all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Schedules all Surface Transit statewide fleet audits to ensure procedures are necessary for effective and safe vehicle operation, and those procedures in the operating environment meets compliance standards.
  • Extracts, compile and analyze performance data to generate reports for executive management. Identifies trends, make recommendations, and provides corrective action as needed.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of experience in the quality assurance department (bus) of NJ Transit and two (2) years of experience in vehicle maintenance and/or transportation operations of NJ Transit.
  • A bachelors degree in engineering can substitute for education in Diesel Technology, or related field or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of advanced electronic systems on buses (i.e., engines, transmissions, brakes, etc.) required.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards and techniques, ISO 9000 + audit programs, federal and state vehicle maintenance design standards and regulations required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Required to be detailed oriented, proficient in time-management and possess strong problem-solving skills.
