Job Description

Purpose of Position:

To be able to operate a computer-based system which requires answering Emergency Codes and Overhead Paging in a 24-hour Operational Department.

Examples of Typical Tasks:
  1. Operates a telephone call directory or switchboard
  2. Handle heavy call volume using applicable Customer Relations Skills
  3. Overhead paging and announcements for various departments
  4. Respond and dispatch all emergency codes (126, BEST, RRT, Stroke, Trauma, Internal/External/Fire Disasters)
  5. Place individual paging and request for general staff
  6. Update all pertinent information for monthly schedules and logs
  7. Place and log all local/long-distance and toll calls
  8. Transfer and connect calls to various departments
  9. Prepare daily schedules for off hours/nights/weekends and holidays
  10. Transfer calls across multiple hospital networks and clinics


Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
