UVa current Good Manufacturing Practice Core Facility (cGMP) is looking to hire Clinical Lab Specialist or Clinical Lab Specialist 2 to support to support operations of the Core. Main responsibilities for this position include biospecimen collection, processing, distribution, and shipping in support of clinical trials. In addition Clinical Lab Specialist will assist Core Manager and Core Director with maintenance of the facility.
  • Assist to coordinate scheduling of clinical study samples, documenting/logging sample details, sample processing, and record and track results.
  • Sample processing, documentation, and shipment.
  • Assist the cGMP supervisor in performing duties to maintain compliance with FDA guidelines.
  • Assist in qualification testing to maintain clean room cGMP facilities with minimal supervision.
  • Provide technical lab support by performing immune testing for the release of products under the supervision of the cGMP supervisor
  • Assist in clinical manufacturing and in the maintenance of equipment functions, implementation of SOPS, and performing tasks to insure the cGMP facility meets operational standards.
  • Perform Quality Control testing of cGMP products and samples with QA oversight.
  • Able to compile immune testing results on patient samples for analysis by leadership.
  • Coordinate and participate in a variety of routine technical duties by providing assistance to clinical and research staff in immune testing and setting up the experiments.
  • Provide basic assistance to researchers in manipulating, computing, and analyzing data.
  • Assist with training other staff members on procedures; may supervise students or volunteers.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Clinical Lab Specialist 1

Experience: None required. 1-3 years relevant experience preferred.

Degree: Bachelors Degree required.

Clinical Lab Specialist 2

Education: Bachelor's degree.

Experience: 3 years of experience relevant experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work procedures requiring fine finger manipulation.
