Summary

This position supports a rapidly expanding Oncology program in the southern Maine region and provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced Oncology nurse interested in taking their career to the next level.
  • The Clinical Manager works closely with the Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Sanford, Maine practice. Will work collaboratively with other Oncology leaders across the southern region.
  • The incumbent provides direct supervision for the MA and RN team members as well as indirect supervision for administrative, referral, and scheduling teams.
  • Responsibilities for this role are primarily supervisory with the expectation of providing direct care on an as needed basis. Direct patient care responsibilities include various clinical skills (accessing Mediports, rooming, assisting with clinic procedures, triaging, etc.), responding to patient telephone inquiries and coordinating patient care with Infusion Therapy.
  • Supervisory responsibilities involve managing personnel, mentoring/coaching, overseeing staffing schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance, assisting with evaluations and providing onsite support and guidance for the entire team.
The ideal candidate will have prior oncology and leadership experience, combined with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Position Summary
  • The Clinical Manager is responsible for supervising and overseeing all operational aspects of the clinical department, including clinical services and staffing needs. The Clinical Manager is responsible for coordinating the clinical work flow in order to provide the most efficient, effective, safe and comprehensive patient care. The Clinical Manager will work with physicians, midlevel providers and clinical staff to increase the volume of clinical outpatient services, referral process, patient flow, and maximize the productivity of each practice location.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: BSN required.
  • License/Certifications: Active State of Maine Nursing License or eligible for licensure. Current BLS certification.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in the nursing field. Supervisory/managerial experience preferred. Experience working with computers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and standards, medical procedures, tests, and clinical/clerical skills necessary to perform all functions and assist physicians. Knowledge of pharmacology is desirable.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, and other health care providers.
  • Analytical ability sufficient to identify patients at risk and initiate appropriate action.
  • Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families, and to plan strategies for managing these situations when they arise.
  • Analytical ability required gathering and interpreting information necessary to resolve problems in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
