MedStar\rHealth is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Clinical Specialist to\rjoin our Quality and Nursing Practice team at MedStar Washington Hospital\rCenter. As a member of the Division of Nursing, you will play a pivotal\rrole in shaping the future of patient care in Critical Care.
Position Overview
The\rCritical Care Clinical Specialist serves as a clinical expert and healthcare\rprovider, educator, collaborator, consultant, leader, and researcher for a\rspecific patient population or specialty area while providing consultation to\raddress complex patient care issues, offering guidance on the prevention and\rmanagement of patient care practices.
As\ra Clinical Specialist in Critical Care, you will utilize a professional\revidence-based nursing practice framework working within three spheres of\rinfluence: patient/family, nursing, and system/organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Serves\ras a collaborative source of clinical expertise and professional advice. Plays\ra significant role in developing, maintaining, and applying nursing standards,\rstandard order sets, patient care protocols, and policies and procedures in\rcollaboration with health care team members.
• Participates\rin the assessment, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of clinical services\rfor a designated patient population. Assesses and analyzes patient data and\revaluates appropriateness in care.
• Provides\rexpertise and support for health care surveys and regulatory and compliance\rreviews from local, regional, and national entities Including, but not limited\rto, the D.C. Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and the Center for\rMedicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Supports survey readiness. Collaborates\rwith facility leadership in the development of post-survey action planning and\rexecution.
• Participates\rin risk management as it relates to nursing practice including investigating,\ridentifying, and communicating issues. Incorporates evidence into all clinical\ractivities. Actively participates in research, evidence-based practice (EBP)\rand performance improvement activities.
• Leads\rand manages a wide array of high visibility, multidisciplinary projects aimed\rat improving hospital performance in areas including, but not limited to,\rinfection prevention, safety, compliance, regulatory and nursing practice.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's\rand Master's degree in Nursing (Required)
• Doctoral\rdegree in Nursing, Education, or Healthcare Administration (Preferred)
• Active\rDC RN License
• 5 or more years of progressively more responsible job-related experience in Nursing
• Strong\rinterpersonal and communication skills
