The Office of the Secretary of State (SOS) is recruiting to fill permanent full-time Information Technology Specialist I position in the Information Technology Division (ITD).

Under the general direction of the System Engineering Supervisor, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) Cloud Systems Administrator, will augment the Cloud Systems Engineer by performing routine installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, research, advisement, and education on matters pertaining to the on-premises and cloud environments. The Cloud Systems Administrator will provide design, implementation, and ongoing administrative support of the cloud platforms utilized specifically by the Notary Automation Project 2.0 (NAP 2.0). The Cloud Administrator will collaborate with the solution provider and the Cloud Engineer to seamlessly integrate the new system into the SOS enterprise framework. The Cloud Administrator will prioritize adherence to security standards, vendor design and implementation best practices, and the use of automation and orchestration in the completion of their duties. As a member of the Systems Engineering Team, the Cloud Engineer is expected to actively monitor, and address tickets and incidents assigned to the Systems Engineering team as needed. Other key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, supporting application deployments, deploying new cloud services, optimizing both on-premises and cloud environments, and monitoring system performance and event logs to ensure maximum availability and service quality. Additionally, the Cloud Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing user accounts, maintaining system backups, applying software updates and patches, and ensuring compliance with security policies.

2. Please describe your experience supporting and maintaining multiple cloud environments and data centers, and server/computer rooms.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily in a telework environment with occasional in office work as needed. The incumbent may be required to respond or work off business hours as determined by the operational needs of the Secretary of State.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience with server and virtual infrastructure maintenance and administration.
  • Proficient in Active Directory, Windows, Unix, Networking and Domain Services.
  • 3+ years technical knowledge and experience in creating Enterprise Group Policies.
  • Proficient knowledge of design and implementation of cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server architecture and industry best practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Virtual Desktop infrastructure and thin clients' support.
  • Support and manage Microsoft Azure environment and other cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with data migration techniques; working in on-premise and cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
  • Experience with the design and deploy of automation and workflow solutions.
  • Experience with Software as a service (SaaS) architecture.
  • Excellent project management, writing and communication skills.
