Pay
This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 110.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview
The Code Compliance Officer I is responsible for investigating and enforcing the applicable property maintenance codes, laws, and ordinances of the City of Corpus Christi. They will respond and work with citizens to bring properties into compliance when applicable and bring violations to fruition through citation when necessary.
Responsibilities
• Investigates property maintenance violations applicable to City codes, ordinances, and laws
• Documents property issues via photographic and written documentation
• Contacts citizens regarding ongoing investigations to assist in abatement efforts or issuance of citation
• Removes signs from utility poles, right-of-ways, and works to communicate sign ordinance with offenders
• Coordinates with citizens and other departments to resolve violations prior to citation
• Provides information to citizen regarding abatement assistance
• Documents all investigations in applicable softwares (Infor or GovQA) to generate narratives for each case as needed
• Conducts compliance follow-ups on active cases and conducts property visits to ensure compliance with property maintenance codes
• Conducts public outreach regarding applicable laws with an emphasis on property maintenance codes
• Proactively pursues work without permit operations
• Conducts frequent contractor license checks
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Requires High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience
• Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations Certified Code Compliance Officer within eighteen (18) months of hire
• CJIS Security and Awareness Training Level I
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
