Summary
The Dean of Students coordinates the administration of the Office of Student Life for Baptist University, serves as an advocate for students, and works collaboratively with students, colleagues, and other interested parties to develop policies, programs and activities that promote student success, retention, and graduation. This position reports directly to the VP EMSA and serves on the division's Leadership Team. This position directly supervises and has oversight for the following areas: Student Conduct, Residence Life, Counseling, Student Activities and Leadership. Responsible for department operations 8 hours/day, 5 days/week and for resolving issues which may occur at any time during the week.Incumbent is subject to hours beyond the normal workday.
The person in this position will serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). A CSA has significant responsibility for student and campus activities and is designated as an individual to whom students and employees should report criminal offenses. It is the responsibility of the CSA to report to the Security Office all allegations of crimes.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for creating a culture of learning and engagement for students by applying student development theories and learning outcomes to develop, implement and assess activities, policies, procedures and programs that promote students' academic and personal success.
• Serve as the college disciplinary officer; develop and enhance educational programs, investigate disruptive student behavior reports, process appeals, initiate warnings, suspension, and disciplinary actions.
• Prepares and administers the departmental operational/capital budget as required for controlling department operations and assisting with administrative decision-making and planning.
• Provides transformational leadership for the Office of Student Life staff; to direct, support, and supervise staff as necessary to meet the goals of the university and Office of Student Life.
• Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
Education
Desired: Doctorate degree in Administration. Leadership, Higher Ed, or related field.

Desired: 5 or more years in higher education administration.
