HOW A DEVOPS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Job Summary:

Designs, develops, evaluates, plans and tests engineering specifications for software programs and applications. Performs troubleshooting and maintenance of the test and operational environments as a part of a DevOps team.

Job Duties:
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (standup, sprint planning, increment planning, etc) to support innovation and enhancement of applications through iteration/functionality testing
  • Participate and collaborate with team members to assess story point/complexity efforts (using best practices) to ensure proper testing and delivery of functionality per User Story Acceptance Criteria
  • Collaborate with team members (Scrum Master, Product Owner, DevOps Engineers, Software Developers, etc) to develop test approaches with an emphasis on automation of recurring/regression test cases through selected toolsets, Develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using task management system (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Provide early exploratory testing during the development phase
  • Design, code and deploy automated test scripts
  • Build and maintain environments (including but not limited to IaC, helm charts, code base), and provide hardening, configurations, and updates leveraging CI/CD pipelines
  • Setup testing and operational configurations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational incidents, coordinate upgrades and changes as needed
  • Perform upgrade activities in test and operations environments
  • Work on site to provide coverage for operations across multiple networks
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Skills/Qualifications:

Required:
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering or any related field/major, or 3 additional years of experience in information technology.
  • Experience working in operations environments
  • Knowledge and use of packages (e.g., BASH, CSS, DOS_BATCH, HTML, Java, JavaScript, PHP, PYTHON, SQL, XML, and Indexing/Search Technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift or similar
  • Technical certification DoD IATII 8570/8140 (CompTIA Security+)
Desired:
  • Technical certifications specializing in Software Development, Containers, or Cloud Computing.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile development framework.
