A large retail company is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their team in Cincinnati, OH. While a Cincinnati candidate would be ideal, the Hiring Team is open to an all-star candidate sitting remotely. The client is an enterprise grocery store chain and the Lead DevOps Engineer will be joining a team that is in place to establish a data platform and data strategy for the internal shared services team. The Lead DevOps Engineer will be responsible for supporting and improving the DevOps processes for the Enterprise Supplier Solutions products.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Designing, building and implementing CICD processes for a new Kafka producer service to on-premises Kubernetes using GitHub, GitHub Actions, Harness and other enterprise systems (Datadog, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)

Designing, building and implementing CICD processes for migrating existing backend services and frontend from Azure App Services to Azure Kubernetes Services including containerization using GitHub, GitHub Actions, Harness and other enterprise systems

Analyzing, recommending and implementing (if deemed necessary) CICD processes for on-prem Oracle EBusiness Suite using GitHub, GitHub Actions, Harness and other enterprise systems

Design, build, and deploy infrastructure and applications that provide high levels of availability, scalability, reliability, and performance, while balancing security, maintainability, reliability, and operational excellence

Working with the engineering team to continuously implement and improve reliable and speedy build environments for DEV & QA; provide timely build status updates; automate as much as possible to improve efficiency and quality.

Build logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to identify bottlenecks and assist with debugging, analysis, and optimization in cloud and on-premises

Must have strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle including requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation. Hands on experience in performance tuning of sources, targets, mappings, and sessions.

Craft solid and clearly explained designs, playbooks, and documentation, for consumption by teammates and the larger engineering organization.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years' overall experience in DevOps, specifically with Azure tools including On-Prem Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Services

At least 2 years' experience in a Lead capacity, including both technical direction and mentorship of less experienced engineers/analysts

Strong experience with CICD and CICD processes including design, development and implementation with a focus on zero downtime (deep understanding of Canary, Blue-Green, etc.)

Strong experience with Harness for automation and building pipelines

Experience with Terraform for deploying Azure data platforms

Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions

Experience managing System Observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, App Dynamics, ELK, Datadog, New Relic, etc)

Familiarity with service oriented architecture

Capable of discovery, proof of concept/technology, and presentation of solutions to engineering teams for sign off and solution decisions

Exceptional communication skills, as proven through leadership
