We are seeking a Director of Operations (based in Elgin, Illinois) to lead production supervisors, engineers, and manufacturing processes in the realms of HARTING custom cable assembly solutions and HAN ® Eco and HAN ® B lines.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will be a strategic leader in the development of KPIs that operationalize the company's strategic map in the North America and globally and will be a tactical driver for the day-to-day operations of production in alignment with the strategy. A successful Director of Operations will excel in driving the implementation of lean manufacturing principles as we continue to expand our production capabilities. This leader will drive us forward in the space of automation and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:
  • Provide leadership and set clear goals to execute strategic plans.
  • Determine key performance metrics and complete employee performance reviews. Communicate targets, recommend opportunities for improvement, and develop and mentor employees.
  • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives to support cost reductions, waste reductions, process automation, quality improvements, and on-time delivery in a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage operation to achieve/exceed profitability goals and compliance with overall delivery, quality, and cost targets.
  • Develop and implement cost control measures, cost estimates, manpower and equipment forecasts and annual departmental operating budgets.
  • Ensure effective personnel utilization and determine staffing requirements according to demand.
  • Develop space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve manufacturing technologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Product Development and New Product Introduction.
  • Establish and implement site preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health, & Safety compliance.
  • Familiarity with concepts and implementation of automation and Industry 4.0 connectivity.


Skills and experience to thrive in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8 years manufacturing operations experience (production, planning, quality, engineering, etc.), with at least 3 years including supervisory responsibilities
  • Experience with quality standards, including ISO 9001/14001 and AS9100 regulations.
  • Experience with Just-in-Time techniques and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Design and implementation of Automation / Automated Processes, preferred.
